About SKUM (Manchester Uni Snowsport Club)
For the forthcoming year, we aspire to grow even larger. The club's overall aim is to make snow sports accessible to all of Manchester's students, across all three of Manchester's campuses.
Currently, our members vary from complete beginners', to professional Olympic athletes, to socialites that never step foot in a pair of ski boots. In order to support this diverse range of members, the club offers a series of training programs in order to make skiing and snowboarding readily accessible, enjoyable and to offer chance for personal growth and progression. These included firstly slalom race training, where students can take part in weekly training sessions so allow them to develop their ability: this includes those that are racing on the dry slope for the first time or for more experienced racers.
The club also provides a series of training sessions for beginners at both Rossendale Dry Ski Slope and Chill Factore, with the aspiration to get as many people as possible to become integrated within the club and snow sports in general. Such sessions also help with progression towards the two club holiday trips offered during the Christmas and Easter Breaks.
